Grand summary for the Blog
This blogging activity was really fun and a good source of information. After completing 10 articles and videos related to diversity, I learned many things about diversity from this information, for example why diversity is important for making a business successful, what are in the layers of diversity, how the efforts of diversity really work for the company or business, how diversity is improving is day by day, how the diversity is winning, how many people from the company are being aware of diversity and inclusion, racial diversity in the workplace, how Americans experience advantages and challenges of diversity and inclusion, and what needs to prefer diversity or equity.
All of these articles were similar to support diversity in the workplace. This article says that although companies are supporting diversity still there are huge differences between the wealth of whites and black people. Further, learn that companies are more interested in diversity now and investing in this. Because they think more corporate leaders make good business sense. however, there is a good number of black billionaires and CEO, those people are stood in good ranks. On the other side, according to the qualitative and quantitative data African people still find difficulties as compared to other minorities because there are lower chances to be hired, developed, and getting promotions. Next, from the article, “Diversity wins: how inclusion matters” I learn that to understand why inclusion matters and what factors are important to employees, inclusion-related indicators analysis is the first step. There are three indications of inclusion- openness, equality, and belonging. For equality, there is a high number of negative sentiments. It helps me to understand diversity and inclusion are equally important and matter for the company. There are many efforts that are important and helpful to improve diversity and inclusion in the organization's life. I also watch a video about diversity named“Let's stop talking about diversity and start working towards equity." This video was related to the topic as other articles but it was saying something different from the other articles. In the video, I learned that we are reacting like we care for diversity but in between our brains, we are not accepting it and cannot normalize the thing if someone is looking different from us. The speaker said in the video that it is normal if someone is different from us with their color, language, clothes, or community. But the thing we should focus on is equity. Everyone should get equal rights and equal treatment from us and we should not blame diversity for anything. Moving towards, I learn that Americans see that there are advantages of racial diversity. The article says white, black, and Hispanic adults can say that it's good to have a mixed racial and ethnic population in the United States, and the majority of these groups. States that it had a positive impact on American culture. At last, these articles show several data charts which was showing many types of data percentages which makes it easy to understand to learn about the information. Overall, These articles were a package of information that I relate to my personal experience and gather information about my future business. The workplace is a serious issue and every leader or senior executive should know about that how they should avoid any side effects of it at the workplace to make a comfortable and friendly work area.
Nice blog Sukhdeep, Learned a lot about workplace diversity. It is important for workers to accept different opinions and cultures of co workers and to respect their culture. Moreover, how workers from different culture or communities bring innovations and different business models in workplace.
ReplyDeleteGood blog Sukhdeep, I learned a lot on workplace diversity as well reading this. People need to start accepting others opinions and cultures of their coworkers. Coworkers with a different background can bring a different outlook on situations at the workplace.
