6. Moving Beyond Diversity Toward Racial Equity

The article named "Moving beyond diversity toward racial equity" was published on June 16, 2020, by the writer named Ben Hecht. This article was posted under the famous site "Harvard business review." the article says, with anti-racist protests flooding the United States, it's clear that returning to "normal business" isn't good for business. While it's clear that today's corporate diversity efforts are lacking, white executives are unsure what should be their further steps. One solution is to start by modifying some people to fit your organization and focus on reforming your organization to fit everyone. To do this, you need to understand how power works and use it to drive change. Make sure that the conflict is understood and accepted as part of the process. Work on learning and long-term transformation.

After the protest happened in America, many companies talk about diversity and racism publicly, and those companies had never talked about that before. The article also shows three important lessons around organizational leadership. After the protest happened in America, many companies talk about diversity and racism publicly, and those companies had never talked about that before. The article also shows three important lessons around organizational leadership. The first one is, understand how the power works and use it works. in past years, the country had laws, policies, and practices that legally separated whites and blacks to maintain a dominant white society, from slavery to Jim Crow laws to redlining. To use this power, they had to commit time and resources to staff members’ individual learning. Second is, Conflict Must be Understood and Embraced as Part of the Process, Conflicts are necessary for change to occur and sustain. Conflict is said to be a change that is about to occur, from discomfort to positive disagreement. Unfortunately, most workplaces today spend a very long time avoiding conflicts of all kinds. We need to change that. The last one is, Commit to Ongoing Learning and Long-Term Transformation, Companies need to take long-term sustainable steps to show that they are making multifaceted and long-term investments in culture.

1. If all companies achieve racial equity at the workplace, so it means the companies are solving the most important issue which was going to be important in the coming decade. So, all companies should accept racial diversity so it will avoid such protests in the future.

2. I remember an experience about 4 years ago, I saw a protest about the rights of the LGBTQIA community and it aware many people about to treat them equally and they deserve equal rights as other people.
